Bendel's Inspiration...Lady Gaga?

The Grammy's are coming up...I can't wait to see Lady Gaga's outfit! I happened to pass by one of Henri Bendel's latest window displays, and all I could think about was Lady Gaga performing "Speechless" on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Henri Bendel, Manhattan, New York, January 2010.

Paper Fashions at Kate's Paperie

Known for their beautiful paper and gift card selection, Kate's Paperie has a wonderful "paper fashions" window installation at their SoHo store right now (located right under the very famous fashion house studio that rhymes with Clark Lacobs). A couple of paper gowns artwok showcased by students and professionals in NYC show the interesting play on textures and silhouettes that can be created by something as "two-dimensional" as paper. After all, clothes are made from shapes made from paper anyways, right? Kate's Paperie, SoHo, Manhattan, 2010.

Turkish Ice Princess of the..Polar Bears?

As said in my sister blog, I knew turbans were going to make the cut as a trend in fashion soon. It had to happen, and being that we are a culture of...cultural displacement, the turban was bound to happen. This window is a mish-mash of Turkish dress, beaded fringe minis, European tights with heels, and then...Arctic Polar Bears. Awesome. Bergdorf Goodman, Manhattan, winter 2009.

Queen of Hearts

Alright, I am slowly but surely putting all the finishing photos of the Bergdorf windows up on my blog, leftover from the Holidays this winter. This one blew my mind --- I think I'm feeling a little deja vu with the subverted ground in the set up of this window...I'm sure I've seen them used in Lanvin windows before. Red pin-cushion walls, decks and decks of cards, cheetah fur throw, roulettes, oversized chess pieces all create a pure Alice in Wonderland fantasy, and pure over-the-top fairy tale a la Ms. Vivienne Westwood. Bergdorf Goodman, New York, 2oo9.

Things & Things

Look at all the detail in these small windows. Can you imagine all the thought and imagination put into the big ones? Oh right, you just need to click on my other blog posts to see them. If I had an antique library in my future mansion, I would fill it with all these things & things to make my creative space a storybook. Bergdorf Goodman, Winter windows, 2009.
